Cheap Price, But Overall Below Average
Equipment in bad shape, and not maintained. Some of it looks like it was purchased at a yard sale. Bathrooms are Eeeww! They don't even have the courtesy to replace a broken paper towel dispenser. How much does that cost? The only highlight is they recently purchased new treadmills, so hopefully they won't break down for a little while. There is a lot of dust and gunk in the gym area, yes and a stale smell. I wonder how much they clean up or wipe the equipment - I'm guessing never. This place does not leave you with a good feeling, and with the crowding in the winter you wonder if you are going there to feel healthy or get sick!

I absolutely love going to Atlas (used to be Gold's) gym. The fact that it's open 24 hours is really convenient; I find that I actually go to the gym more often later at night. It gets kind of busy around 7-8pm, but I've never had to wait for an elliptical machine before. The staff is really friendly and being able to drive there and park in front of the gym for free is fantastic, especially when it's in the dead of winter! If you go during a busy time, it does tend to get stuffy, but it's not bad. I actually enjoy going to gym there, although the fact that the scale is out in the middle of the gym versus in the locker rooms isn't the greatest. Overall, I would definitely recommend Atlas to anyone!

I've worked out at Golds... now called Atlas, for over a year and I love it still. The staff always greets you and gets to know you. The hours are great and it has tanning too. Unlike everywhere else you go on campus you can park right outside and for free so that saves you money and time. Atlas smells like any other gym, no better, no worse.

Decent price, great for 24h gym
I go early in the morning, and there are rarely more than five people in the place at the same time as me...which might explain why I've never noticed too bad of a smell....it just smells, well, like a gym. Everyone's always been friendly to me, so I can't really complain. Overall, I think it's a good deal for my money. My main thing is that it's always open, and I can go whenever I feel like it, even if that means at 4 am......

Good for students on a budget.
When you walk into Gold's Gym in the Hanna Plaza the 1st thing you notice is the horrible stench, followed by the ratty and torn carpet, which nicely complemented by the broken mirrors off in the far corner. We all can agree that gyms don't smell like roses but Gold's and their patrons frequently fail to do the minimum to control the order (i.e. poor building ventilation and disrespectfully neglecting to wipe down equipment after usage). The atmosphere is less then inviting for members of the community and for most students due to the frequent loud grunting of a few regulars heard over the ear crushing noise of classic rock being blared over the house speakers. If you are looking for a cheap and convenient place to workout and you don't mind the annoyance of sorority girls and meatheads then Gold's is the place for you!
