The emphasis with many of the instructors in the group fitness program is on "beauty" rather than "health". This probably comes from the fact that even though the club promotes their instructors as "certified" they only have certification in specific workouts and not a national certification from a reliable authority such as the American Council on Exercise; this leads to classes that are unsafe.
The front desk staff tries to be helpful, but generally they don't know anything. There seems to be a lack of sharing information between the upper management and the lower-level workers.
Many of the trainers are reasonably qualified, but again, their emphasis is upon appearance and not upon health. Getting buff and thin is more important than reducing blood pressure....etc.
Be prepared to put up with LOTS of high school kids. They take over the lobby and make life miserable.
