Curves is wonderful for the over 40+ crowd. My interest at this point is merely to stay in good shape and in the littlest effort and time as possible. Curves offers this. As for the repetitiveness, it's true, however, in 30 minutes you're out of there. I wish the music would be more geared to our liking. The techno pop is fine for absolute cardio but I think you would attract an even greater crowd if you played plain old good classic rock like Long Cool Woman by CCR, Old Time Rock and Roll by Bob Seger etc. as well as 1970's disco, Staying Alive, Night Fever (Bee Gees)., Born to be Alive, Carwash, Donna Summer Hits...etc.
The Curves concept is good- it gets you in the habit of exercising routinely. But on the negative side, it gets repetitive and boring. They claim you can increase variation by doing different moves on the in-between stations but it really doesn't make it all more exciting. THE ABSOLUTE BIGGEST REASON I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND CURVES IS BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE WORST HOURS EVER...
Monday-Friday 7am-8pm, Saturday and Sunday 9am-12pm
For people who work during the week, that gives them 1 hour after getting home to go and complete the workout and not enough time in the morning to get a workout in before work. In the weekends, you have a measly 3 hours to get there and workout. It doesn't make sense. Much like Canadian Banking hours. For this reason alone and the boring repetitiveness of Curves, I regret my membership.
